The Empowerment Challenge
OUR AMAZING LAUNCH
The Empowerment Challenge Launch on October 17th 2019 was absolutely amazing.
The launch night saw almost 200 people attending, it was beyond our expectations. It was an unforgettable evening with Nicky Buckley emceeing and the incredible speakers Jules Allen and Lynda Mori sharing their powerful stories (these 3 wonderful women also donated their time to the event).
We also had many many silent auction/raffle items and general auction items donated, plus two amazing cash donations – one from Jayco Caravans Australia for $5000 and one from the Electrical Trades Union for $5000. The monies raised from the auctions in addition to these cash donations and ticket sales resulted in a phenomenal $28,000 raised from the night. WOW!

To everyone who donated auction/silent auction/raffle items on the night THANK YOU. We raised SO much from these items. Michelle from Hayeswinckle ran the auctions – WOW!!!! You were incredible & we definitely wouldn’t have raised so much without your amazing auctioneer skills.
Nicky Buckley
To our amazing MC Nicky Buckley- thank you for keeping the night running so smoothly and for connecting so well with our audience, we really appreciate it so much.
Our Speakers
To our speakers Jules Allen & Lynda Mori – your vulnerability & strength in sharing your stories was amazing. Your stories touched so many and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your courage.
Michelle
To our beautiful strong board member Michelle who shared her story as a younger Mum in the video ‘16 on a bus’. We know how difficult it was to delve back into this time but you bravely shared anyway as you knew how important it was to our cause. Incredible & we love you.
Thanks to YOU
And finally to ALL OF YOU! To everyone who bought tickets and came to support us – THANK YOU. Because of your generosity we are now ONE STEP CLOSER to achieving our goals and supporting younger Mums.
We’ll leave you with this quote that Shannon shared on the night from Mother Teresa:
“I alone cannot change the world, but I can cast a stone across the waters to create many ripples”.
Continue to support us
We would love you to continue sharing our vision and talk to everyone you know about us. Who do you know who might like to support us further? We have cast that stone. Now it’s time to turn those ripples into a Tsunami and with our EMPOWERMENT CHALLENGE ARMY behind us, we believe it’s possible.
A huge thank you to our two amazing speakers, two very strong woman.
Jules Allen
Engaging her audience Jules does not shy away from the challenges she now perceives as her greatest asset. Having experienced years of childhood sexual abuse and a family breakdown Jules went on to become a youth at risk. As a consequence of heavily drug and alcohol addiction Jules made decisions that further complicated her world such as landing in a domestic violence situation. So when she speaks to Gen Y on how to survive trauma and adversity, and then go on to make a positive difference in their lives – they listen. Furthermore, Jules went on to care for 32 Foster children. She is the proud Mother of three adult children, a blend of her own, fostered and adopted.
Lynda Mori
Lynda’s upbringing and early adult life has often been described as “So bad you only ever see it in the movies.” Most people who knew Lynda during this time would say she was just your average family mum, albeit a young one having had her first child at 18 years old and third by 21. For the few people who got a glimpse of her world behind the scenes, it couldn't have been further from the truth. As her close friend once said, “Who needs TV when I know you, it’s like watching a show play out in real life.”
